Milking issues

Crap! The breast pump broke a few hours ago. The motor is completely dead (as far as I can tell from taking it apart). A new one costs $300. I'm searching for a used one. Hope I can find one in the next 24 hours or my milk may dry up. I tried hand pumping--slow and ineffective (half the milk, twice the time, difficult). And I tried to make him nurse directly, but that didn't go over very well either.

  1. I think you will be ok if you don't pump for 24 hours. Just try to hand express. If you want, I can overnight my pump to you, but it's an Ameda not a Medela.

  2. You can probably rent one-ask your local hospital or other birthing center. Kaiser provided one for me when I came home from the hospital.
    I hope it works out.

  3. I found a friend here (in my baby group) with one I can borrow for a few days until I can get a new one. Yay for friends! Thanks for the encouragement and advise . . .

  4. So glad to hear that your friend could loan one.... it seems like enough for you to cope with Chris being away, the weather, and what ever else. How good it is to have good friends!
